Could this senseless loss of life have been prevented and are justice and compensation available to Mr. Reagan’s family?

Local News

32-year-old Charles Reagan was killed “in a drive-by shooting outside…[a] restaurant near Central and Dunlap avenues,” Tuesday afternoon, August 28, 2018, per AZ Central reports.

Police are apparently still searching for two suspects seen fleeing the scene, according to The Count.

Our Legal Take

Restaurant and parking lot patrons have a right to feel safe and secure while on the premises. The Murray Law Firm questions the level of security provided on the property and whether this tragedy may have been prevented.

  • Have there been prior incidents of violence on or near property? What security measures, such as surveillance cameras, bright lighting and security patrols, were in place to deter crime and protect Mr. Reagan at the time of the shooting?

Generally, property owners are required to protect all those legally on the premises from any foreseeable harm. Should the facts of this matter reveal that the property owner or management failed to provide adequate security to protect those on its premises, the family of Charles Reagan may seek justice and elect to pursue legal claims for their loss.

Based upon its prior successful experience in handling security negligence claims on behalf of victims and their families, The Murray Law Firm suggests that photographs and a thorough, unbiased inspection of the property will need to be performed immediately, before any evidence may be repaired, damaged or destroyed. Given the complexities of pursuing a negligent security case, it is imperative that the victim’s family retain an experienced attorney who can ensure the preservation of any and all evidence that may support such a claim.

Could this senseless Raleigh apartment shooting have been prevented and are justice and compensation available to the victims?

Local News

Two men were reportedly shot during a party at “the Vie at Raleigh apartments, located at 403 Wolf Creek Circle,” Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018, according to WRAL. Both men were transported to WakeMed, per ABC 11 reports. Their current conditions have not been released.

“Residents Concerned About Security,” per News Report

According to CBS 17, a fatal shooting occurred at the complex in August 2017, claiming the life of 23-year-old Quentin Judd and raising concerns over resident safety. The media investigation alleges, “Raleigh Police have responded to the Vie for reports of assault, vandalism, shots fired, illegal drug and alcohol use, and car break-ins.” At the time, residents called for “an increase in security and police.” It is unclear whether the complex ever complied with those requests.

Our Legal Take

Apartment residents and guests have a right to feel safe and secure while on the premises. The Murray Law Firm questions the level of security provided on the property and whether this shooting may have been prevented.

  • What additional security measures, such as gated-entry, fencing, bright lighting, surveillance cameras, and security patrols, were implemented following media reports of prior criminal activity on property?

Generally, property owners are required to protect all those legally on the premises from any foreseeable harm. Should the facts of this matter reveal that the apartment complex owner or management company failed to provide adequate security to protect those on its premises, the victims may seek justice and elect to pursue legal claims for their injuries.
