Nashville, TN News – A man tragically lost his life after a work related incident Wednesday morning, April 8, 2026.
As reported by WSMV.com, “[o]n Wednesday morning, the Nashville Fire Department responded to the construction site at 3015 Ambrose Avenue at about 10 a.m. after reports that a worker had become “wedged” between a forklift and another piece of machinery.”
According to the report, “[a]nother worker told officers that he was using a forklift truck to move lumber up a hill to the main site when the electronics suddenly shut off. The truck started to lurch in the wrong direction, rolling backwards down the hill. The worker told investigators he tried to brake and turn the machinery away from [the coworker], who was operating an excavator at the bottom of the hill, but he wasn’t able to avoid his coworker.”
WKRN.com is reporting, “[o]fficials said Nashville Fire Department crews pronounced one man—later identified as 42-year-old Stephen Mattson—deceased at the scene, adding that he didn’t have a pulse when first responders arrived.”
The investigation is ongoing.
