Did negligent security contribute to this senseless Greenville shooting?

Local News

24-year-old Andrew Chardone was reportedly shot and injured outside Sunny’s Sports Bar Saturday morning, December 23, 2017.

According to WSPA 7, “there was a fight inside the bar, people got kicked out, then someone started shooting outside.” Mr. Chardone was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. His current condition has not been released.

The bar was apparently the subject of a prior shooting investigation in August 2015, per Greenville News reports.

Our Legal Take

Bar and parking lot patrons have a right to feel safe and secure while on the premises. The Murray Law Firm questions the level of security provided on the property and whether this shooting may have been prevented.

  • Were any efforts made by nightclub security or management to safely and separately remove all those involved from the initial altercation from the premises, prior to an escalation to gunfire?
  • What parking lot security measures, such as bright lighting, surveillance cameras and security patrols, were in place to protect patrons and deter crime at the time of the shooting?

Generally, property owners are required to protect all those legally on the premises from any foreseeable harm. Should the facts of this matter reveal that the bar or parking lot owners failed to provide adequate security to protect those on its premises, Andrew Chardone may seek justice and elect to pursue legal claims for his injuries.

Based upon its prior successful experience in handling security negligence claims on behalf of victims and their families, The Murray Law Firm suggests that photographs and a thorough, unbiased inspection of the property will need to be performed immediately, before any evidence may be repaired, damaged or destroyed. Given the complexities of pursuing a negligent security case, it is imperative that the victim retain an experienced attorney who can ensure the preservation of any and all evidence that may support such a claim.
