A motor vehicle accident is involving three vehicles injured two people Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
According to SCSunTimes.com, “Delaware State Police and emergency crews…responded to a crash near Townsend” and closed all lanes of U.S. Route 13, northbound and southbound, at Pine Tree Road. DelawareOnline.com is reporting “[a] Georgia man’s minivan ran a red light, and crashed into a car on U.S. 13 in Townsend, leaving one driver with serious injuries.” According to the news report, the minivan was “driving north on U.S. 13 in the right lane near the intersection of Blackbird Landing Road…The minivan driver did not stop at the intersection’s red light and hit the left side of a car turning left onto U.S. 13 south. The impact spun the car and sent it into a retention pond near the intersection.” After the initial accident, the minivan “kept traveling and veered into oncoming traffic, hitting a Peterbilt tractor-trailer head-on.”
The driver of the car, “a 69-year-old Townsend woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries…The minivan driver was also sent to the hospital with injuries not life-threatening, and charged with disregarding a red light,” According to DelawareOnline.com.
